School Admissions Policy

Admission to The International School of Moscow is selective. We are committed to ensuring that our pupils have access to the highest standards in education, and that also implies learning from other pupils as well as the classroom teacher.  Age appropriate skills in English and academic levels are evaluated for all applicants, and we often invite students to spend sessions within the classroom to get a holistic picture beyond just their academic level. We expect all students to contribute to school life outside of the classroom: sports, drama and music. Find below information relating to specific age groups applying to the school.

Nursery (age 3)

When students are three, they join a Nursery class. At this stage the child must be free of nappies/diapers. There is a need for a basic understanding of English to be considered for a place in Nursery. This will be assessed by a member of our academic staff after an application is received. Provided the evaluation is satisfactory, a place will be offered.

Reception Classes (age 4)

When children are four, they join a Reception class. At this age there is a need for a more in-depth understanding of English and academic ability will be required. This will be assessed by a member of our academic staff after an application is received. Provided the evaluation is satisfactory, a place will be offered.

Years 1 & 2 (ages 5 & 6)

Pupils applying for places in Years 1 & 2 must have some knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. Reports from the previous school(s) may also be required.
