Entry Requirements

Foundation Stage Applications

Pre-Nursery

For children between the ages of 2 and 3 years there is a requirement for the child to be fully potty trained and to be free of nappies/diapers. You will also need to present the official application form and all necessary documentation as outlined below. For applications to Pre-Nursery, there is no minimum level of English required, although an understanding is an advantage.

Nursery

When students are three, they join a Nursery Class. In order to do so, parents must complete and return the official application form to be found at the back of the brochure or use the online facility under the 'Admissions' Tab and send in all the necessary documentation. As in the above Pre-Nursery application, the child must be free of nappies/diapers. There is also a need for a basic understanding of English to be considered for a place in Nursery.

If you feel your child meets the above requirements, please make an appointment to visit the school it is then possible for your child to be assessed by a member of our academic staff. Provided the evaluation is satisfactory, a place will be offered.

Reception

When children are four, they join a Reception Class. In order to do so, parents must complete and return the official application form to be found at the back of the brochure or online under the 'Admissions' tab and send in all the necessary documentation outlined below. An appointment can then be made for parents to visit the school and for their child to be academically assesed by a member of our teaching staff, usually the respective class teacher. The assessments are compulsory for all children attending The International School of Moscow and tasks set are taken from the objectives outlined in the English National Curriculum.

Provided the assessment is satisfactory and all minimum requirements are met, a place will be offered.

Children applying for Pre-Nursery places are not required to have any prior knowledge of English but preference will always be given to those who do. Children who wish to join Nursery and Reception are required to have a minimum level of spoken English.
