Artist in ResidenceSarah’s art conveys mood
and emotion, she uses techniques such as, painting, scratching, repainting and
glazing to add texture and bring
different dimensions to the pieces. We decided that we will make a painting of
St Basils cathedral in Moscow, which is going to be painted in the style of
various abstract painters. Children from Pre-Nursery up to Year 8 will spend time with Sarah
learning about prominent abstract painters such as, Chagall, Kandinsky, klee,
Matisse and then they will paint part of the cathedral in an artists
style. The end result will
be a cathedral with Kandinsky domes, Rothko’s sky and Chagall’s walls! |

Their practical work will be inspired by a variety of starting points such as; themselves, stories, music, natural and man made objects and environment. They will finally produce a piece of work reflecting the artist’s style. Their Literacy work is also based on Art. For example, Year 2 who are studying Henry Moore, will write a story about when one of Henry Moore’s sculptures who came alive, what they said, and did, what did they see? |
