ISM Creative ARTS Festival

From the 6th to the 9th of February, ISM Creative Arts department hosted our first 'More Able and Talented' Arts Festival.
Friday, February 9, 2018
Leading practitioners in the fields of Art, Music and Drama were invited into school to work with around 40 of our students. In line with their strengths and talents they assimilated valuable subject experience throughout the week and performed the results of the workshops to parents and students in our end of week assembly.

Artist Christine Robinson (UK) delivered an advanced sculpture workshop. Using Greek and Roman heads, students hand-built their own heads out of clay. Making sculptures using ceramics is a complex art form which allows our students to develop, grow and also enables them to try out new techniques.

Theatre Director Sam Curtis-Lindsay (Hackney Showrooms, London) focused very much on devised performance during the workshops, including vocal and physical skills, working with text and improvisation. This resulted in a very interesting piece of drama.

Musician Semyon Lashkin and the renowned ‘Band Radio Kamerger’ together with our students went through the basics of musical arrangement, including practical details of using classical instruments in modern music. They created a completely original piece of Music, incorporating ISM students.

It was an exciting week full of inspiration and creative discoveries. We are extremely proud of the talents we have at ISM!
